On 27th December 2007, after travelling round France, we finally moved in to our own French dream. As well as having the memoirs of our travels on the blog, it is also an ongoing account of our new life in France.

La Kermesse
Friday, 25 June 2010
Make hay whilst the sun shines.
It's been all go here on the farm again. Once a year we get to feel like real farmers when our friend Thiery comes to cut and bail, bale? the hay for us.
Depressingly, due to the long winter and lack of spring rain, we have only got half the crop of last year, even though we cut another 1 and a half acres of land.
Josh's birthday present of, something in a cage, are starting to appear today. The quaiviary hath begun. So far we have 7 tiddly peeps. They're not the only new borns today though as our frinds Steve and Laura have had their second baby today. Elena was born at stupid o'clock this morning waying 4 pounds something.
I have had a week and a half working on Maryline and Davids roof, stripping tiles and battens, fitting membrane and battens and retiling. I think we're nearly 2000 tiles in with another 8-10 thousand to go.
Tomorrow is the kids summer fair at school, en Francais, La Kermesse. So we're off there in the morning to see their spectacle and eat lunch before returning home to our next guests Lucy and the big one.

What's New?
I am pleased to report that Peter is better. He is back to his normal mischievous self!! His ear infection appears to have gone and the scar is improving! At school he appears to be behaving which is good, although he does tend to do what he wants when he wants!! He is a determined little monkey. Wonder where he gets that from?
Josh and Kirsty are doing well at school. They are looking forward to the end of term, their last day is the 2nd July. Andrew is, as you can imagine, not looking forward to it at all!! Josh has gained his Permis Pieton at school this term which means he can now walk!!! He passed his test and is very proud of his certificate. Well done Josh!! Josh is also busy constructing at the moment. He has got to page 3 I think of the instructions!! He has obviously not got the male genes yet that tell you not to bother with the instructions!!
Andrew is busy helping Maryline and David on their roof. I think the job is due to last until the end of the summer!! At least I know where to find him!! He has also managed to fit the new carpet in the ensuite. Another great job. Now all I need to do is buy the flooring for the bathroom and it might actually be a job that is finished!! I say might!!!
I am still looking forward to going back to work soon. Unemployment is not really suiting me, especially the lack of unemployment benefit!! Last month was very light as they have decided that I was paid 25 days holiday when I left the bank!! Typical. Another thing to check on!!
Anyway, love to all and see you all real soon. xx

Ouch, says Peter!!
It has been a difficult week for Peter. First he was diagnosed with an ear infection and then he found out that his wings were not yet developed!
Flying from a 10 ft high staircase was the latest activity!! Thankfully, he has not broken anything too major, except maybe his pride. We went straight to the hospital and they glued him back together. He has to be careful for a few days and we are not allowed to get his head wet for six days. Great timing really, considering it has rained all day.
Anyway, all is calm now, we hope for a few days, before the next visitors arrive next Sunday. Lets hope we can have a little rest inbetween!!!

House Party 2010
Thank you to everyone who has made 2010 another memorable house party. We are chuffed to bits that so many people travelled to party with us again, especially those of whom came long distances. We even had a new party animal from Israel!!!
The weekend seems to have gone without too many problems. I think the worst events have been one parking ticket, 11 euros, followed by one speeding ticket, 90 euros. I am pleased to say that neither were me. Sorry guys!!
We did also have an injury on the trampoline. Poor Kaye had her finger broken by a plaster cast! Not a good end to a weekend, especially after we had already made her poorly by feeding her pork!!! Fingers crossed, no pun intended, that she mends quickly. Big hugs from everyone.
The food went extremely well, chilli on Friday, lamb roast on Saturday and pig and paella on Sunday. Yummy. We managed not to run out of bread like last year as well, even though there are some big boys who do like their sandwiches. We couldnt do without the big boys though as we all need the eye candy to keep us going. You know who you are!!!
Everybody helped to make the entertainment for the weekend. David even dressed up for us and ran the archery tournament!! Noone was hurt during the event.
Despite the weather the campers all survived. The biggest two man tent was erected and apparently had 5 star accommodation inside. The generator was not required this weekend for the hairdryer! There were three campers though who chickened out and camped out in the living room. Apparently their mattress went down and blowing it up with the compressor at half past one in the morning was not a good idea. The hole was rather too large for a patch!!
Thanks everyone again and we hope to see all of you back next year, along with those people who could not make it. We did sorely miss a very good friend and hope to see him real soon. Take care all. xx
