How many hours in a weekend?

Once again we seem to have squeezed an awful lot into a very short period of time. Yesterday we managed to sort some more furniture for the gite, so we now have a 5 seater sofa/bed, a 3 seater sofa/coffer and a 1 seater sofa/sleeper. Last on the list of aquisitions will be a double bed for the North bedroom then we will be all set for accomodating the peeps in May. We borrowed a van for collecting the furniture and managed to off load the kids for nearly 6 hours yesterday, barring josh who we dropped off at 9:30 Saturday morning and picked up this evening at 5. Another attack of insomnia saw me commencing work at 2am this morning. The ceiling in the gite kitchen which was plasterboarded a week ago, has now been plastered and needs a little rub down before a coat of paint. The shower in the utility room has finally been fully plasterboarded and is just awaiting tape and jointing. We have guests arriving for easter weekend and I have a list of jobs as long as my arm to complete prior to their arrival. I am quietly confident I will finish all I have to do, but only time will tell. Having done my first day of work for today, I cooked Janes breakfast before heading back to my eternal workload in the log shed. Another job that the end is now in sight and to top it off I cut and sharpened another 30 fence posts today putting the tally up to 100 for the year so far. Fingers crossed I may be able to convince a couple of willing volunteers to help me put some up in a couple of weeks time. The coming week will see me knuckling down to all sorts. Thats all from him and now from me .... Peter has been busy learning at school and at the same time as learning a new language, he also seems to be entering into the realms of being an artist!!! His latest work is a rocket with two people looking out of a round window!! As for me, I have five weeks left of work before I am once again unemployed. I have decided that I need to stop stressing about it as it does not seem to be helping!! Unemployment benefit over here works differently to the UK thank goodness and we should be ok for a good six months. Anyway, we are all thoroughly looking forward to some time off over Easter and lots of good friends coming to visit. Party time!!! xxx

Un Jour avec le chef

This week finally saw the end of my latest hedging venture. Although there is still much tidying up to do, I decided to break from the old routine and spend a day in the kitchen. On the menu today, gateaux aux fromage Polonais. Fingers crossed in my brothers merry state last night he accurately recalled the recipe. Samosas take 2, but I did forget the lemon juice, DOH DOH DOH. Onion Bhajis, much experimenting has started to produce a top quality product. Capping it all off an apple pie. The miracle of today is that Jane and Maryline have gone out and I am looking after 6 kids. Haven't seen them for some time but I'm enjoying the peace.
