A week without Jane

We're on the countdown to party time now and it's all systems go here to say the least. Jane is presently the other side of the channel stocking up with plaster and paint so that I can carry on working hard as always. It was a bit of an unplanned visit but there are some things that take priority. The gite is storming forwards now. I have a snagging list and hope to have crossed all the jobs off before the arrival of my mum and dad on 27th May. The hardest job is going to be fabricating the curved bath side for one of the ensuites. One of the downsides of buying baths on leboncoin, is that not all the bits are likely to be included but, such is life. The veggy patch took a turn for the worst after a couple of very severe late frosts. Unfortunately the beans have been totally wiped out, but Josh has already got the next load planted in order to replace them. Although the foliage on the potatoes was also killed, they are far hardier and appear to be coming back well now. The raddishes, onions and garlic seem to have been oblivious to the frost which is lucky as they represent a large amount of this years expected produce. The kids also discovered the most enormous hairy caterpillar today so I thought I should post a picture of it, to give you an idea of scale, it's nearly 4 inches long.

Did you know that Uncle Tony was coming to visit?

Once again, apologies for the late blog. I have been rather preoccupied since finishing my last contract. This weeks task was cleaning out the stable. After 60 barrows of manure I finally finished the job!!! My body is very thankful, dont think it could take much more!!! The kids are doing well at school with Josh getting his best ever marks in his dictee. Kirsty is still doing her best and Peter speaks more French now than the rest of us. Well, we think its French. It may just be Peter language!!! Todays task was to install Uncle Tony in his new home. The kids had great fun stuffing his trousers and coat!!! Lets hope he does a good job!!! The veggies are doing really well and we dont want anything eating them before we do!!
